Types of Gutter Guards Available in NZ
1. Stainless Steel Micro-Mesh — The gold standard. Fine mesh keeps out even pine needles and seed pods while allowing maximum water flow. Best for Auckland homes near trees.
2. Foam Insert Guards — Porous foam sits inside the gutter. Inexpensive but degrades over time and can harbour moss and lichen. Not recommended for Auckland's humid climate.
3. Reverse Curve (Surface Tension) — Water follows the curved surface into the gutter while debris falls off. Works well for large debris but can miss fine particles.
4. Bottle Brush Guards — Bristle inserts that catch debris on top. Can be difficult to clean when clogged and not ideal for NZ conditions.
